Rome - Piero Piccioni, author of over 100 Movie Soundtracks, has suddenly died last night at his home in Rome.

He was born in Turin the 6 December 1921. Piccioni had written the music for almost all the films of and with Alberto Sordi, but he had worked for many Italian films directed by Francesco Rosi, Alberto Lattuada, Luigi Comencini, Luchino Visconti, Antonio Pietrangeli, Bernardo Bertolucci and Vittorio De Sica.

ErMan:
<< The only thing we can say is that the music of Piero Piccioni is in our background since our first steps as Transistors.

It was an honor for me to meet personally our idol during the The International Lounge Festival (June 12, 1999 – Montecchio Emilia - Italy).

During our brief talk, I remember that he said to me:
It’s incredible for me to see how many young people love my music. It’s like a second youth for me!” >>

Good Bossa in your new world, Piero.

Piero Piccioni on Transistors music:
- "You never told me" (from "Fumo di Londra" OST) - cover included in our first Transistors CD "Swinging Italy" (1998).
- "Spiral Waltz" (from "The 10th Victim" OST by Piero Piccioni) the only cover we play in our lives since 2002.
